Our dream for a girl's house has been a plan in the pipeline for several years.
‘Shalam’ is a Hebrew word meaning: To be safe and protected. It is often used in the context of restoration and completion and the root of the more known Hebrew word ‘Shalom’ for ‘peace’.
Construction began in February 2019 and is expected to be completed by the end of August.
Our Shalam Girl's House building is a two story home with a total floor area of 160m²
•The GROUND FLOOR has 1 house parent room with bathroom, a children's room, living area, kitchen area, dining area, toilet and storage room.
•The SECOND FLOOR has 3 girl's room each with their own bathroom to accommodate 4-8 girls per room, a balcony area and an emergency fire exit stairway.
STAGE 2 of the project is to build a multi purpose covered ministry area with bathrooms to improve our facilities for community outreach - our hope is to develop the AlternativeLearning System program to extend to other local children & youth and facilitate further community health & education outreach programs such as health screening, dental care, livelihood skills training, co-curricular enrichment workshops, group work psycho-social counseling activities and youth ministry.
