Our dream for a girl's house has been a plan in the pipeline for several years.
‘Shalam’ is a Hebrew word meaning: To be safe and protected. It is often used in the context of restoration and completion and the root of the more known Hebrew word ‘Shalom’ for ‘peace’.
Our supporters from The Conroy Rendon Charitable Trust launched a 'Pink For A Purpose' fund raising effort to start the ball rolling towards helping and restoring more girls in need of a safe place to call home.
The proposed Shalam House building is a two story girl’s home with a total floor area of 154m²
•The GROUND FLOOR has 1 house parent room or wheel chair access room with bathroom, a living area, kitchen area, dining area, toilet and storage room. FLOOR PLAN HERE
•The SECOND FLOOR has 1 house parent room with bathroom, 2 girl’s bedrooms able to accommodate 4 bunk beds (8 girls) per room, 2 toilets and 2 shower room. FLOOR PLAN HERE
STAGE 2 of the project is to build a multi purpose covered ministry area with bathrooms to improve our facilities for community outreach - our hope is to develop the AlternativeLearning System program to extend to other local children & youth and facilitate further community health & education outreach programs such as health screening, dental care, livelihood skills training, co-curricular enrichment workshops, group work psycho-social counseling activities and youth ministry.
